Amendments to EBA Guidelines on product oversight and governance arrangements for retail banking products – applicable from 11 January 2027
On 30 June 2026, the European Banking Authority (EBA) issued updated Guidelines on product oversight and governance arrangements for retail banking products (EBA/GL/2015/18). The updated Guidelines clarify requirements for environmental, social and governance (ESG) features whenever offered and sold to consumers, and address greenwashing risks. The aim is to reduce the risk of consumers being misled or sold products that do not meet their needs.
The Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA) has confirmed that it will comply with the Guidelines.
In accordance with Article 16(3) of the EBA Regulation1, financial institutions shall make every effort to comply with the EBA Guidelines.
Date of application
The Guidelines will apply from 11 January 2027.
