Supervision release 22 November 2016 – 75/2016

EBA seeks views on revised standards on supervisory reporting

Operational risks and sovereign exposures

On 14 November 2016, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published for consultation revised Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) on supervisory reporting.

The EBA recommends new and more detailed reporting of sovereign and other comparable exposures and changes to the reporting of operational risk data. The revised ITS propose more extended reporting of operational risks (OPR), especially losses. The standards on supervisory reporting aim at collecting information on institutions’ compliance with prudential requirements in a consistent way and need to be updated whenever prudential or supervisory requirements change.

More detailed information on the revised ITS and templates under consultation, and instructions on how to participate in the consultation, are available on the EBA’s website. The deadline for the submission of comments is 7 January 2017.

The EBA expects to submit the draft ITS to the European Commission in March/April 2017. The application of the revised requirements will be in March 2018, with the first reporting reference date as of 31 March 2018.

Reporting of additional monitoring metrics for liquidity (AMM)

The EBA seeks views on its ITS in respect of a reintroduction of a maturity ladder (template and instructions) in supervisory reporting of additional monitoring metrics for liquidity ((AMM (COREP ALM)).

On 16 November 2016, The EBA published for consultation a proposal for changes to the ITS on additional monitoring metrics for liquidity. The EBA’s proposal concerns a reintroduction of a maturity ladder in AMM reporting. The EBA also proposes revisions to the other templates and instructions of AMM reporting, on the basis of issues arisen in the EBA’s Q&A process. The purpose of the revisions is to ensure consistency between the different tables and instructions concerning the ITS on additional monitoring metrics for liquidity.

More detailed information on the EBA’s AMM reporting and the consultation is available on the EBA’s website. The deadline for the submission of comments is 2 January 2017.
