Scam attempts in the name of the Financial Supervisory Authority

Scam attempts have been made in the name of the Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA) via messages and phone calls. Scam messages have been sent at least via email and the WhatsApp application, possibly also via other communication channels. In addition, scam calls have been made in the name of the FIN-FSA, attempting to phish for confidential information. Please be vigilant when receiving messages and phone calls.

In the scam attempts, the recipient is sent, for example, a screenshot of a fake English-language page resembling the FIN-FSA’s website, or possibly a link to a fake site. The scam messages refer to overdue withdrawals or unclaimed investment funds. Do not reply to these scam messages and do not click on any links contained within them. Do not open any attachments either.

In scam calls, the caller may pose as a representative of the FIN-FSA and attempt to phish for banking information and online banking credentials, for example. The FIN-FSA never asks for banking credentials or other identifying information by phone or message.

If you receive a suspected scam message, please contact the FIN-FSA directly about this, but through a different channel – do not use any link or phone number contained in the message.
