Unemployment funds 2012: No significant changes in number of beneficiaries of earnings-related daily allowance or number of allowance days

According to data in the unemployment funds' Finnish-language annual release, the number of beneficiaries of earnings-related daily allowance and the number of allowance days did not change significantly from the year before. Nevertheless, unemployment funds' expenditures for earnings-related daily allowance increased by 8%.

Despite having evened out slightly, funds still displayed considerable variations in expenditure. Increases in this expenditure category were reported by 29 funds, while reductions were reported by only three funds. At most, the increase in expenditure was as high as 39%.

Membership in employee funds declined for the third year in a row, with the funds reporting a total loss of more than 10,000 members. By contrast, funds for self-employed saw continued increase in membership.
