This directory contains a compilation of the key international recommendations concerning the financial markets. Born out of an initiative from the Financial Stability Forum comes the Compendium of Standards, a publication listing various internationally accepted standards concerning the functioning and supervision of the financial markets under one cover. The compendium presents various standard-setting bodies, acts as a channel for their Internet sites and briefly describes each of the key standards. The Basel Committee's Enhancing Corporate Governance for Banking Organisations recommendations concentrate on the corporate governance principles followed in banking, in particular. Similarly, the recommendations issued by the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR), the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS), the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS) and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors) are compiled on their Internet sites.
