  • Handling your matters on line – protect your computer
    The majority of financial service providers provide services that can be used on the Internet. Handling your matters on line is safe when both the service provider and the customer take care of information security. Users are advised to regularly read the information security instructions for online services made available by the service provider. Users should also update operating systems, internet browsers and security software on a regular basis.
  • Housing loans
    When considering a housing loan, always assess your loan servicing ability carefully.
  • Customer protection
    Customer protection aims at ensuring that services provided are relevant and in accordance with the law. Customer protection consists of the obligations imposed on the service provider by law, common code of conduct and good market practice, supervision by authorities and customer’s own responsibilities.
  • Look out for attempted fraud!
    Fraudulent messages trying to get hold of bank customers’ electronic identifiers have circulated lately. The messages are often masked to look like a legitimate message from the customer service and addressed directly to the customer. Banks, insurance companies, the police, or other authorities never ask for electronic customer identifiers over the phone or by email.
  • Warning lists
    Operators in the financial markets must observe the financial regulations. In the interests of customer and investor protection, FIN-FSA provides e.g. warning lists concerning authorisation and the obligation to provide a prospectus, and publishes warnings by foreign supervisory authorities.
