Money and debt advisers help anyone faced with payment difficulties
Money and debt advisers assist everybody, regardless of the cause of indebtedness. Money and debt advisers help for instance in mapping out the financial situation and negotiations with debtors. However, they do not make decisions on behalf of the customer; rather, the responsibility lies on the customer.
A money and debt advisor should be contacted as soon as possible when payment difficulties or threat of such difficulties occurs.
Money and debt advisory services are organised by the Regional State Administrative Agencies and municipalities. A municipality makes an agreement with the Regional State Administrative Agency in which it undertakes to organise money and debt advisory services to persons living in the municipality. The Finnish Consumer Agency is responsible for organising the management, steering and supervision of money and debt advisory services.
